Catnip (Catmint)
Nepeta cataria
Catnip, also called catmint, herb of the mint family, is noted for its aromatic leaves. Catnip is a mild sedative, antispasmodic, nervine, diaphoretic and astringent. It is indicated in fevers and colic. It allows the body to perspire without increasing the internal body temperature heat. This herb is a traditional cold and flu remedy and can be utilized in acute bronchitis. Can also be used to treat diarrhea in children due to its relaxing properties.
